As a parent and educator, I saw Camp Kee-Mo-Kee give kids the chance to enjoy outdoor experiences and build new friendships. The camp relies heavily on volunteers who are always needed and welcomed. And as a volunteer, I was able to learn new skills while giving back to the camp for future generations.

It all started when the Wales family donated 20 acres of woodlands to the United Church of Canada, creating the site now known as Camp Kee-Mo-Kee. For the past 60 years, the camp has been operated by a volunteer Board of Directors who have collectively invested thousands of hours in the camp. In addition, individual volunteers and community organizations have supported the camp through fundraising, donations, helping out with special projects, training staff, property maintenance, committee work and outreach. These volunteers and donors are the backbone of the organization, while the seasonal and summer camp staff bring the camp to life for the campers who attend each summer.

As we move into the next 60 years, we invite you to join in the spirit of camp. What do you have to offer? Time? Skills? Knowledge? Resources? Enthusiasm? There are lots of ways you can be involved at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee!

  • Teen volunteers (ages 14-18) are welcome to help on Camp Clean-Up Days, the Butterflies, Birds & Beyond Festival in July and the Haunted Halloween Event in October. Sign up sheets are posted in the weeks prior to these days.

  • Younger volunteers (under age 14) must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Depending on the role, you may be required to present a current, clear, vulnerable sector background check, AODA compliance training, First Aid/CPR training or interview with the Board of Directors.
