As the last echoes of camp fade into the trees and campers and staff head off to their fall plans, I sit on the office porch to reflect on the season that has just passed. It was my first summer at this camp, and what a wonderful season it has been. A summer filled with laughter, friendships, challenges, and growth. Most of all, this summer has left me with a deep sense of gratitude. I am grateful to our campers, who brought the forest to life with their energy, curiosity, and joy. From the youngest first-timers to seasoned returners, you reminded us of what camp is all about: wonder, belonging, and the courage to try something new. I am grateful to our staff, who poured their hearts into creating a safe, welcoming, and joy-filled environment for every camper. Your creativity, resilience, and kindness made every meal, every game, every cabin chat, and every campfire a moment to remember. I am grateful to our donors and supporters, who believe in the mission of Kee-Mo-Kee and ensure that camp remains a place where every child can feel at home in nature. Your generosity helps us nurture young leaders, care for our beautiful grounds, and keep camp accessible to all. And I am deeply grateful for our community (parents, alumni, volunteers, local partners, and friends) who continue to surround Kee-Mo-Kee with encouragement and care. Camp does not exist in isolation; it thrives because of the circle of people who believe in its value and vision. As I look back on this summer, I see more than just a season of programs and activities. I see a vibrant community rooted in tradition, strengthened by generosity, and inspired by the young people who will carry camp’s spirit into the future. Thank you for making this summer unforgettable. I look forward with excitement to the seasons yet to come, and to many more moments of joy, growth, and connection under the trees at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee.
